We operate center-based special education programs, SEIT services, Related Services therapy delivery, and Multidisciplinary Evaluation services across locations in Hempstead and Hicksville.

We are looking for a Director of Special Education Programs who is ready to lead that work.
Position Summary
The Director of Special Education Programs is the senior operational and compliance leader for Red Door’s NYSED-approved Preschool Special Education Program, SEIT division, and Related Services.
This is a program leadership and operations role focused on compliance, program quality, staff accountability, and district relationships across Red Door’s Nassau County locations.
The Director will build and maintain the systems, standards, and operational infrastructure needed to support compliant, consistent, and high-quality service delivery every day.

Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Ensure full compliance with NYSED Part 200, Part 201, and 4410 regulations across all program sites and disciplines
- Conduct continuous internal compliance monitoring, including documentation audits, service delivery verification, and IEP implementation review
- Maintain audit readiness across all sites through embedded daily compliance practices
- Develop and implement corrective action plans in response to identified gaps
- Serve as the primary organizational point of contact for NYSED program reviews, site visits, and regulatory inquiries
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation across IEPs, session notes, progress reports, attendance records, and billing
Program Operations & Quality
- Oversee daily operations across center-based 4410 programs, SEIT services, and Related Services at multiple Nassau County locations
- Ensure full implementation of all student IEPs and delivery of mandated services at the required frequency and intensity
- Monitor service delivery quality through regular observation and documentation review
- Maintain OCFS compliance for health, safety, and staffing ratios
- Manage enrollment, caseload distribution, and scheduling in coordination with program leadership
- Develop and maintain operational systems that promote consistency across sites and disciplines
Staff Leadership & Accountability
- Directly supervise special education teachers, related service providers, SEIT staff, and program coordinators
- Conduct formal and informal classroom and service delivery observations with written, actionable feedback
- Establish, communicate, and enforce documentation standards and professional performance expectations
- Address performance concerns directly, consistently, and in accordance with organizational policy
- Lead professional development planning and delivery aligned with compliance priorities and clinical quality improvement
- Build a team culture defined by accountability, high standards, and genuine care for the children and families served
District & Family Relations
- Serve as the primary CPSE liaison representing Red Door’s programs across Nassau County school districts
- Build and maintain professional relationships with CPSE chairpersons across Nassau County
- Represent Red Door professionally in district meetings, CPSE proceedings, and community settings
- Communicate proactively with families regarding IEP implementation, service delivery, and student progress
- Resolve district and family concerns promptly and professionally
Required Qualifications
- New York State certification in Special Education, Birth–Grade 2 or Students with Disabilities
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in preschool special education
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or administrative role
- Demonstrated experience operating within a NYSED-approved 4410 preschool special education program
- Working knowledge of NYSED Part 200, Part 201, and 4410 regulations
- Working knowledge of OCFS health and safety requirements
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, manage performance, and hold teams accountable to high standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for district, family, and organizational representation
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- School Building Leader, School District Leader, or School Administrator and Supervisor certification
- Experience with NYSED program reviews, audits, or corrective action processes
- Experience managing operations across multiple sites
- Experience building or rebuilding documentation and compliance systems
- Established professional relationships with Nassau County CPSE offices

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary: $88,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience and demonstrated 4410 expertise
